16 Lowe’s Filing Site Plan for the Old Caldor
Shopping Center
A meeting was held at the Swan Lake Civic Center in
East Patchogue. The Focus East Patchogue Group along with Swan Lake Civic
Association Members, were joined by Joe Buzzell an attorney for Lowe’s;
Legislator Jack Eddington; Councilman Tim Mazzei; a representative for Town
Supervisor Brian X. Foley from The Town
of Brookhaven’s Office Economic Development; two other representatives from
Lowe’s as well as community members.
A site plan was presented for Lowe’s to take over
the old Caldor Shopping Center on Rt. 101 and
Montauk Hwy. Some of the details include; the
building will be taken down completely; a new
building will be built just under the same square
footage as the old footprint; the site will be used
by one user only “Lowe’s”; Lowe’s will bring 250 jobs to
the community, 80% being full-time; the site plan
shows similar traffic entrances and exits similar to
those
currently in place; a landscape buffers will exist
along all edges and through out the parking lot; the
plan view showed the façade as earth-tone bricking,
a blue corporate logo and touches of red.
It was a positive meeting. All who attended approved
of the preliminary plan, and it was said in the crowd,
that it was a pleasure to see this site plan, since
so many others that had been presented in the past
were disappointing. The site plan will be filed
shortly. Visit
